Introduction

The UNICA – Brussels Education Consortium is happy to have successfuly organised the Seminar for Bologna and Higher Education Reform Experts: ‘Competences for the Future’ hosted by the University of Warsaw on 23-24 October 2009.

The seminar was organised in the framework of the Information Project on Higher Education Reform – Phase III, and funded by the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme.

The objectives of the seminar

The specific Aims and Objectives of the Warsaw Seminar on 'Competences for the Future' were multiple:

  • The participants familiarized with and learnt from the viewpoints of both the universities and the world of industry/business.

  • The participants actively took part in discussion groups, which were focus on good practice in priority fields, such as: work placements, dialogue with the stakeholders, university strategic development, skills upgrading & curriculum development.


On a more general level:
 

  • The target public was given the opportunity to engage in peer learning through the poster session, a voluntary-based 'buddy' system and a special event set up with and for the students.


The overall objective of the Warsaw seminar, along with other project activities, was to further boost the 'Community' feeling among the participants.
