At present University of Warsaw is the largest and leading Higher Educational Institution in Poland
consisting of 19 departments and 24 other independent research and teaching units.
From its beginning the University of Warsaw has played a major role in the intellectual, political and cultural life of Poland, and has been recognized throughout the world as a leading academic centre in this part of Europe. University of Warsaw (UW) offers studies in 44 fields of arts and sciences at 1, 2 and 3 cycles, vocational courses, e-learning and summer schools. Currently more than 65 000 students are enrolled and about 3100 academic staff is employed at the UW.
University has earned its prestige through the high educational level it offers and the research work. UW is strongly oriented towards internationalization and teaching, thus continues its efforts to reform and modernize its own structures and study programmers in the framework of Bologna Process. The University authorities are involved in many international projects sustaining Lifelong Learning Programmes and supporting mobility of students and employees. UW is part of the ERASMUS/SOCRATES Programme and member of several other networks like UNICA - the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe.
